1. Django Forum and Wiki application

Sphene Community Tools currently consist of two full-featured django applications meant to be as pluggable as possible so they can be easily integrated into any django project:

• Community - The base for the other modules. Provides generic functionality like login/logout and user profiles.
• Wiki - Easily manage content on your Website using a simple markup language.
• Forum Application / Message Board - Build a community in hierarchical forum categories, including sticky threads, polls, permission system (anonymous posts using captchas), and more.
  • The forum can easily be extended using "category types" making it perfect for many types of user submitted content. Two examples are the Blog and LinkList applications.

It trys to adhere mostly to the "Do's and Don'ts For Application Writers" - any applications which should work smoothly together with SCT should do the same.

2. News

• 2018-07-24 09:03:21: Support for django 2.x and Python >=3.6 - we are back alive!
  After 8(!) years without a news post, and quite some time without any commits I have finally found some time and motivation to upgrade Sphene Community tools to support django 2.x and python >=3.6!
  
  There are still a few things to fix, and I will try to keep the status posted. But This website already runs on the new master version. So it's certainly usable again ;-)

• 2010-08-07 12:30:14: Fighting spam ... disabled anonymous posts
  Because there were just too many spam posts lately I have (temporarily) disabled anonymous posts. I'm not yet sure why the captcha's are not effective any more, but I try to find other ways to prevent spam (akismet filter, post limits, etc.)

• 2010-01-06 17:55:09: Sphene Community Tools Version 0.6 Released!
  SCT 0.6 has been released and contains many improvements to the django forum as well as many bugfixes and additional translations.
  
  Forum improvements include support for quick reply, moving of individual posts instead of the whole thread and nice sluggified URLs for threads.

• 2009-12-20 16:34:23: New server, new luck ...
  Because of a hard drive failure i had to move the website and subversion repository. (This was the reason for the ~2 day down time :( ). Anyway, now everything should be up and running again - the subversion repository has moved to http://source.sphene.net/svn/root/django/communitytools/ (although the old URL will simply do a 301 redirect, so if you checked out from the old URL, it is still valid).
  
  For committers: For those who had commit rights (ie. shell accounts) - i had no backup of those :( just mail me and i will recreate them.

• 2009-08-06 00:07:28: Sphene Community Tools 0.6 Release Candidate 1
  As promised I have prepared a SCT 0.6 release. Now it is time for testing and it would be nice if any of you could help me with that!
  
  Either download the release candidate or update to the latest trunk and test with your setup and django 1.1 or later. (Or test by going through the basic Tutorial or the CommunityDraft installation).
  
  You might also try having your groupName in the URL - this requires the new setting: SPH_SETTINGS['community_groups_in_url'] = True (it is still not documented, I'm working on it ;) ). For a list of changes check the Issue Tracker for now (I haven't had time yet to update the Changelog).

3. Applications

Currently it consists of the following Applications:

• Community - Defines basically only models and template tags which are used within Sphene Community Tools itself..
• Board - Django Forum software with recursive categories, BBCode support, etc.
• Wiki - Currently very simple django wiki based on the Markdown markup. (Currently very limited)
• LinkList - Very basic linklist based on the Board application.
